Expansion Gold Making in a Nutshell

Every two years, Blizzard drops a big update to their mega selling MMORPG World of Warcraft. And yet, most players miss a fantastic opportunity to make massive amounts of gold from that expansion release. You’ve probably heard that you can make a LOT of gold when a patch hits or when new content is updated on the server, so why don’t more people take advantage of an expansion as a fantastic way to fill their coffers for the next two years?

How Expansion Gold Making Works

The idea is simple. When an expansion comes along, the entire game economy is turned on its head. Players no longer have any idea what’s valuable or what things should sell for. It’s because the demand goes up so high and the supply is so low. It’s not just the items already in the game, however. Players will also be looking for lower level items this time around because of the influx of new alts in the form of Goblins, Worgens, and the new race/class combos.

What You’ll Need

So to take advantage of this surge of interest in low level items, you should start stockpiling certain items that will almost assuredly resurge in value after cataclysm launches. Because no one will be in Outland or Northrend and because most lower level players will be in too much of a hurry to farm their own stuff, you can sell items from those areas for HUGE markup and make a massive profit, but only if you stock up now.

The Risks and Rewards of Planning

If you plan now, you can make a lot of gold, but only if you know exactly what to stock up on. Some items will completely lose their value when cataclysm comes out and will never regain it. Others will be worthless for weeks until demand suddenly rebounds after everyone hits level 85. So, there is a risk for sure that you might stockpile the wrong items or sell them at the wrong time, but there is also a big chance for profit if you plan properly, well in advance.

If you’re serious about preparing for Cataclysm when it releases on December 7th, you need to have a plan. The number one most important thing you can do in that plan is have gold set aside through careful investments. Do that, and you’ll be ready to sell out at key moments and make a tremendous profit off of the inundation of new lowbie characters and professions that surge through your server. Have fun first and foremost, but don’t forget to make a tidy little profit.

New Features on the Horizon for Cataclysm

If you haven’t heard yet, Cataclysm – the third expansion for the mega-popular World of Warcraft – is hitting the store shelves on December 7th of this year and will sport all sorts of new features that will fundamentally change how you play the game. But, which new features will have the biggest impact and how can you best prepare for them when the game finally launches? Here is a rundown of what you should be watching for first and foremost.

New Class/Race Combos – Other than the overhaul of Azeroth, the biggest buzz point right now is the wave of new alts that will be inundating the game when it relaunches on December 7th. Players will be loading up as Dwarf Shamans, Troll Druids and Night Elf Mages (among a dozen other new combos). Additionally, we have Worgens and Goblins joining the ranks as new races.

Stat and Talent Changes – In the 4.0.1 patch, we’ll see the overhaul of our classes finally which will completely revamp the talent trees and set into motion another two years of tinkering and tweaking to get the balance just right. With all those changes come a reload on the enchants, gems, and gear we all use. How much will those things change once half our stats are removed from the game?

Revamped Professions – They aren’t changing as much as the rest of the game, but the professions will be getting a big overhaul as well. That means things like glyphs becoming learned, jewelcrafters getting new dailies and all sorts of new transmutes to complement the new items. Look for other new features as well like random stats on crafted gear.

Guild Leveling System – This is a big one as it will drive a lot of guild membership in the new version of the game. With a hard guild cap of 600, and a load of new bonuses available for guild members who are active, there will be lots of reasons to be in a good guild, which can cost you gold and time.

There are dozens more additions to the game – all of which will have a profound impact on how you play your characters going forward, but some changes will have a more immediate impact. How much gold will you have when you need to replace your glyphs, revamp your enchants, level up new alts, and get into a good guild where you can take advantage of all those new rewards? The big question here is preparation and if you’re not prepared, it will be hard to take full advantage of all the new fun stuff.

How Much Gold Should You Have for Cataclysm?

Whenever a new expansion hits for World of Warcraft, people sit back and try to figure out how much gold they are going to need. Most of the time, they estimate too little and end up sitting by broke and annoyed for the first month or two of the expansion. But, if you sit down and clearly map out what things will cost and how much gold you REALLY need when the new content hits the servers, you can prepare for it much more readily.

Common Expenses

There are a lot of small expenses that most people forget about. It costs money to train new skills, professions and pets. You’ll also need to pick up consumables to speed along the levelling process and most characters will need to buy new gear when they reach Level 85 so they can start playing in the dungeons or raids right away (unless you do full progression). You’ll also need to pay for things like the new flying upgrade and if you have any alts that you want to level up, those are even pricier. Sit down and make a full list of all these expenses and know for sure how much gold you need BEFORE you set foot in Cataclysm.

Professions and Farming

One of the biggest expenses in a new expansion is the upgrade cost for a profession. It costs a lot of gold to get any crafting profession from 450 to 525 and if you’re one of the unlucky few with Blacksmithing or Jewelcrafting, even more gold than everyone else. So, make sure you have enough cash on hand to reach the new cap. Also, get the right farming professions in place to speed it along if at all possible.

New Stuff

There’s a lot of new stuff coming your way in Cataclysm – from epic flying in Azeroth to new race/class combos to a variety of new ways to play your current classes. Gold is a must so make sure you plan accordingly before we get to December.

How much gold you need for an expansion really depends on what you hope to get out of the game. If your goal is to get every new item, upgrade, and piece of gear that has fallen into the game since the last expansion, you’ll need a LOT of gold on standby. If you just want to reach Level 85 and enjoy a few raids, you need far less, but you still need a good stash, especially when you take inflation into account for the new consumables and crafting goods. Be ready and the xpac will be much more fun.

Top 5 Things To Do Before Cataclysm

As we all know Cataclysm will be available on December 7th which leaves us just under 2 months to kill time.

Until then you don’t really have to worry much about gearing your character because all your Icecrown Citadel Epic gear will easily be replaced by level 81 Blue gear. (I’m not joking)

So what else is there to do?

Top 5 To Do List Before Cataclysm

1. Stock up on lots of Gold.

A lot of crafted items in Cataclysm will be very expensive and very high in demand, as everyone will be gearing up for level 85.

WHICH means you should also…

2. Level your profession to max level of 450!

Again high level profession will be in demand and there will be a huge rush for everybody to level their profession for Cataclysm so they can craft or access higher level items.

So deciding to finally level up that level 300 Tailoring during Cataclysm  will cost you a lot more then what it would have cost you to level it to 450 right now.

3. Explore Azeroth and earn Achievements!

After Cataclysm Azeroth will be dramatically changed forever. Its time for you to take a trip down memory lane and view the old Azeroth in its former glory for the last time..

and also to finally complete your Explorer achievement for you ‘Explorer’ title and tabard reward.

4. Earn faction reputations!

Guild Leveling will be a big part of Cataclysm and your individual reputation to different factions will count towards your guild achievements.

Having a lot of exalted reputation completed right now will make you very attractive to any guild wanting to recruit.

5. Complete the achievements that you have always wanted!

Don’t feel like raiding or PVP because you don’t need anymore gear ?

Now is the perfect time to complete your achievements!

Rogue Leveling Guide

A Rogue is a pure DPS class that wears leather armor and should focus on getting a lot of Agility which will give him some Dodge chance thus survivability while leveling. A Rogue also has some nice stunning attacks that should always be used to minimize damage done to him. First Aid is definitely necessary to minimize a Rogue’s downtime.

The Rogue has three nice talent trees and they all have their pros and cons. If you want to make a nice leveling build you should check out the one below because it takes a bit of all three talent trees and it will give you a lot of useful abilities and boosts to level up like crazy.

Rogue Leveling Build

You should start by putting some talents in the Combat tree. Start with Dual Wield Specialization and then go for Precision to make sure you hit a lot with both weapons. Now go for Deflection because you will encounter a lot of melee mobs and that makes 6% parry chance really nice. Skip Riposte but do take Endurance so the cooldown of Evasion and Sprint are much shorter. These two abilities are great while leveling. Now Improve your Spring and Dodge chance and finally take Blade Furry which is just great when you’re fighting two mobs at once. It increases your damage by 20% anyway for 15 seconds so even if you’re fighting one mob it’s quite good.

Now put five points in Malice at the Assassination. Take Ruthlessness and Puncturing Wounds. Do take Vigor asap because it is really nice to have 110 Energy. Take Lethality to improve the damage from your critical strikes and then go for Vile Poisons and Improved Poisons. Take Cold Blood which is a killer and Fleet Footed to increase your movement speed which is always welcome while leveling. Take Quick Recovery and then take Sealed Fate to apply combo points faster which is a nice combo with Cold Blood.

Take Overkill so you can do more damage when you come out of stealth and then take Deadly Brew so runners won’t be much of a menace since they get their movement speed reduced with 70%.

Take Deadened Nerved to reduce damage done to you and take Weaknesses to increase all damage done by 6%. Last but not least you should take Mutilate in this tree which is a nice attack.

Take Relentless Strikes and Opportunity from the Subtlety tree and you have a great leveling build.

With this build you will have more Energy-boosting talents, two great attacks in Mutilate and Blade Furry, increased movement speed, a lot of crit and hit rating, some Poison specialization, some Dodge and Parry chance, and you will have your Sprint and Evasion improved.

Profession Guide – Hunter

Hunters are one of the most fun classes to play in WoW. Usually in the company of your pet, you will never feel lonely. Their surviving abilities are well known and respected. While leveling Hunters can wear leather gear and on higher levels they will get to wear mail.

Leatherworking and Skinning

These two are the best suited professions for a Hunter. Hunters can easily grind animals which they can skin so leveling Skinning won’t be any problem. Leatherworking will follow it easily. On higher levels with Leatherworking you can craft nice leather gear for Druids and Rogues and also really good mail gear for yourself, other Hunters and Shamans. Another useful thing a Leatherworker can make are Armor Kits. Armor Kits are used to enhance parts of your gear with stats. These are useful while you are leveling and on higher levels Leg Armors that  Leatherworkers can make are a need. In example Icescale Leg Armor would be great to boost your stats since when attached to your pants will give you more attack power and critical strike rating. Skinning will also give you Master of Anatomy buff which will increase your critical strike rating by 32. Nice boost for your char isn’t it?

Engineering and Mining

Engineering and Mining are another great combo of professions used quite commonly by Hunters. Hunters have the ability called Feign Death which is really useful when you see that your group is about to wipe or if you just simply want to leave the combat. Gnomish Army Knife is a useful skill an Engineer has. With it a Hunter Engineer could return a death party member back to life. Weakness Spectralizers are a nice piece of gear that you could make for yourself as well with Engineering. With Engineering you could make nice guns and ammunition and also a lot of other nice and handy gadgets.  Mining also has a new buff – Toughness. This buff will increase you Stamina by 50.

Other

Combinations like Jewelcrafting and Mining, Herbalism and Alchemy are always nice to have since they could be useful in various ways. Gems are always nice to have and with higher skill in Jewelcrafting and by doing the daily quests in Dalaran one can learn how to craft many nice gems and also unique-equipped. Alchemy and Herbalism is always nice since a Hunter also needs mana and health potions and also agility elixirs and flasks. It is nice to have these professions for raiding and also for grinding. Inscription and Herbalism is a new combination which could be fun to level up and also useful because you could craft many useful Glyphs and Scrolls. Enchanting could go well with a Hunter since this profession is quite useful for all classes. Everybody needs enchants and Disenchanting, which you get with Enchanting is really a gold savior. It is a very profitable profession since all valuable items that you get from disenchanting and which you don’t need for enchanting yourself you could easily sell on the Auction House. The only problem with leveling Enchanting is that it takes too long and requires lot of gold to be spent on it.

Druid Leveling Guide

A Druid is a great class to level no matter if you choose to level as a Feral Druid or as a Balance Druid. Reason for this is that you are still able to heal up after you get some damage. In this article I will describe a great Feral Leveling build and a great Balance leveling build. The Restoration tree can be partially taken as you will see but a full Restoration build will slow down your leveling.

Feral Druid

As a Feral Druid that wants to level up fast you should specialize in your Cat Form ability because the damage done in Cat Form is better than the Bear Forms available. There are some talents that are better for Bears then for Cats so these can be skipped. Please note that this is a solo leveling build that focuses on maximizing the damage of your Cat Form.

Feral leveling build

Instead of saying why the talents that are chosen are chosen, I will tell you why you can skip the ones that are not:

Feral Instinct: Swipe is a Bear’s ability so you can skip it. The reduced chance to become visible is not important while leveling.

Thick Hide: This talent supports the tanking kind of Druids, not adding anything to quicker leveling.

Brutal Impact: It is more of a Bear ability since it reduces the cooldown of Bash and makes Bash last 1 more second. While for a cat it only gives an additional 1 second to his Pounce stun duration. It’s not bad though so that’s why you can spend a point here.

Natural Reaction: Pure Bear talent.

Primal Tenacity: Not good for leveling purposes since you will remain in Cat Form and fear and Stun effects are not a killer while leveling.

You should add some Restoration talents to this build because of three reasons: Improved Mark of the Wild which is still one of the better buffs out there, Naturalist which increases your damage done by 10%, and finally Omen of Clarity which gives you a chance to use your abilities without spending Energy.

Balance Druid

As a Balance Druid you just try to get as much possible damage but also don’t want to run out of mana too often.

Balance leveling build

Genesis:  Isn’t really worth it since Moonfire and Wasp Swarm are the only Dot’s that can be used.

Brambles: Yes, a lot of Entangling Roots can be used while leveling + Thorns, Bark skin and Treants boosted.
